185 years of Warsaw pharmaceutics – gala coverage


We began to celebrate te 185th anniversary of Warsaw pharmaceutics and Polfa Warszawa S.A. Two and a half thousand people took part in the event held on 11 May, including representatives of ministries, state institutions, the largest pharmaceutical companies, pharmacists and over a thousand Polfa employees.


The event started at 7:30 P.M. sharp with an exhibition devoted to the company’s history. (including the pre-war period, the oldest photographs in the archives). Guests watched the photographs walking along the foyer of the Congress Hall with a glass of champagne.

Exactly an hour later, the presenters - Karolina Pokorowska – press spokesperson of Polfa Warszawa and Artur Orzech – TV journalist started the main part of the event. A multimedia film lasting about 10 minutes was shown which presented the Company’s traditions and values in an interesting way.

Next, it was time for congratulations presented by Vice-Minister of the State Treasury Jan Bury, vice-President of Warsaw Jacek Wojciechowicz and the President of the Polish Pharmaceutica Holding Artur Woźniak.

After numerous optimistic statements, the Theatre of Movement and Dance “Ocelot” appeared on the stage presenting an incredible combination of dance and acrobatic feats which will certainly be remembered for a long time by the guests of the Congress Hall.

After the breathtaking airborne acrobatic manoeuvres, the President of Polfa Warszawa S.A. Krzysztof Berndt appeared on the stage and thanked the company’s employees warmly, as it is owing to them, as he emphasized – it is possible to celebrate this beautiful anniversary. After a while, the President was joined by the remaining Members of the Management Board: Krzysztof Pawłowski and Piotr Stelmach.

The Management Board started a new tradition – handing special statues to people who especially contributed to the company’s development. Exceptional people were invited on the stage: Zdzisław Mroczek – the originator of ideas for many products manufactured by Polfa Warszawa and an eminent expert on pharmaceutical law, Władysław Karaś – an icon of the Polish pharmaceutical industry, former president and administrator of the company and dr. Janusz Szajewski – the author and originator of the company’s flagship product – Acard.

After the official part – Polish music took over. Ewa Małas-Godlewska, an excellent opera singer,  impressed the audience with her powerful voice, next Ewelina Flinta, a wonderful singer of the young generation appeared on stage, the musical time travel was ended by the incredibly talented leader of the Zakopower group - Sebastian Karpiel-Bułecka. Adam Sztaba’s phenomenal orchestra was present throughout the gala – the musicians accompanied the performers and at the end the orchestra’s soloists performed the greatest hits by Marek Grechuta, Czesław Niemen and Andrzej Zaucha.

The event ended after 11 P.M. leaving us pictures and memories.
